With age, many women begin to experience varicose veins AKA spider veins. Varicose veins are a relatively common condition, and for many people they are a family trait. Women are at least twice as likely as men to develop them. In the U.S. alone, they affect about 23% of all Americans. The Dermatology & Laser Medical Center offers non-invasive treatments that can help reduce the appearance of these unsightly veins within a few treatments.

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves an injection of a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein through a very fine needle. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and stick together and the blood to clot. You may experience mild discomfort for a few minutes during the treatment. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view.

*Note: You are not eligible for Sclerotherapy if you are pregnant.
